It is very rare for these mouthpieces to come up second hand, this is perhaps a credit to the popularity of these mouthpieces. However, this benefits the buyer in that this mouthpiece is in 'like new condition' without the 'new' price tag.

The tip opening on this piece is 5 which is within the most popular range of openings. The G series is aimed at reproducing the size and style of chamber and tip opening that allows the unique sound of great saxophonists of the past.

This berg larsen HR comes with its original ligature. These mouthpieces are very rare to come accross especially for soprano saxophone. The mouthpiece reads "Berg Larsen, London England", "60, 1, SMS" the original ligature is marked "Berg Larsen London England, reg. design 851427/8".

The tip opening and baffle height of this mouthpiece is 60/1 SMS. The first number (60) is the tip opening which indicates .60 inches. The second number (1) indicates the baffle height or the brightness of this piece - this is between 0 and 3, 3 being the brightest. The SMS indicates that this is a short facing length - about the same as an Otto Link facing. This particular tip opening is about the same as a Meyer 8-9 or an Otto Link 6, so falls within the popular tip opening range of saxophone mouthpieces.

This mouthpiece is used, but is in superb, as new condition with no signs of trauma or wear. These pieces are machined from hard rubber, assuring stability, accuracy and consistent facings. They also feature a square cross section in the chamber instead of the conventional arch.

This mouthpiece is made from an engineered plastic which is temperature stable and very long lasting. This mouthpiece is reccommended for playing within the jazz idiom including Big Band and Jazz Combo. It allows for easy projection and has a well centered tone that is versatile.

There is little to no information available about this particular mouthpiece or the company that it came from. However, the piece is serial numbered so perhaps holds some kind of value and rareity. The serial number is 8822. The mouthpiece is in great condition. From research it seems that in its original state the mouthpiece would have had a 'lawton style' slide on ligature which is missing from this particular mouthpiece. The mouthpiece is either from a German manufacturer or made in the German Clarinet mouthpiece style.
